Not only does it have two of my favourite holidays-- Thanksgiving and Halloween-- but it's the only month where we get true autumn weather in Ontario. September is still too hot and muggy. November is grey and rainy. October, however, is mild with chilly nights and warm afternoons. It's the month when the trees start showing their fall colours and the stores start filling up with Halloween merchandise... and the inevitable Christmas merchandise.
I recently got a few interesting things after combing through packages of pre-bloodied cheese cloth and plastic vampire capes. I love Halloween, it's the best time to find awesome home decor.
Vampire fang ice cube tray -- a gift from my sister.
This handsome gentleman was another gift from my sister.
Now what to keep in this box?
This gorgeous snowglobe isn't the original one I wanted. I had bought a similar one with an adorable skeleton bride & groom dancing by gravestones but it somehow broke while I was carrying it around. The sales associates let me exchange it but that had been the last one of the bride & groom so I grabbed the skull & crossbones. It's heavyweight and very sturdy with black confetti and tiny black bats for the "snow".
I picked up these grinning ghouls at the same store I got the snowglobe from. They are really well-made ceramic salt & pepper shakers. I've been drooling over all of the home accessories at plasticland.com but they don't ship to Canada so I'm very happy to have found these. Only $6!
A cute bat mug I found at the dollar store. I also found a skull ashtray at the same dollar store but no one in my home smokes so I might use it for cone-shaped incense.
I am also a sucker for air fresheners so when my boyfriend found these at the store I had to grab a few more! For only $1 they're cute and make my tiny bathroom smell nice.
That's all I have for now, but good luck with your own haunted hunting! Sometimes the most unlikely of stores carry a few gems!
