Stripetember!

Today I'm participating in Jamie's theme month with a post celebrating one of my favourite things -- stripes!

Stripes are a mainstay in goth fashion and are incredibly versatile; from thin pinstripes on a smart suit to thick horizontal stripes on a dress, they can be either subtle or bold.  Fashion "rules" dictate that in order to look slimmer a person should stay away from horizontal stripes but the most fashionable people in history never listened to that tripe!

I love stripes, they're great whether you're dressing down or dressing up and for someone who wears 97% black they go with most things in my wardrobe.  I like to go for the classic black & white stripe and sometimes I throw in another colour for an eye-catching pop, even if it's just a bright lipstick.

This is a great light dress for the summer, a more casual outfit for when 32C heat makes wearing all-black a burden.

My favourite striped item is definitely the five-layer bustle skirt that I made myself.  It's so ruffly and the bustle is huuuuge!  It's such a fun skirt!  I made it with the help of this tutorial from Cut Out + Keep

(sorry, crap photo! taking a picture of your own bum is harder than you'd think)

Here's a bonus Stripey photo!  (with an even better bonus -- THE IRON THRONE!)

First Post Ever

Welcome to my new blog!  I've tried out blogging in the past but I'm lazy and boring so it never worked out well.  There seem to be a lot more goth and fatshion blogs than ever before and I think I might be able to make a contribution.

My name is Courtney.  I'm a fat feminist with a love of music, fashion, history, theology, and too many other things to list.  This blog will mainly be about fashion, music, crafting, fat acceptance and feminism.  I'm also game to take part in various blog challenges so watch out for those!

Upcoming posts:
  • My first Take Back the Night rally
  • Home decorating
  • Halloween crafting and costuming
  • OOTDs
  • Blog challenges

I hope to see you around!
